About the studio

Fervo: I boil.

An independent game studio making small games around one strong idea each.

The name

Fervo is Latin. Fervō: I boil, I seethe, I glow with heat.

We like a particular way of looking at the universe: that underneath everything, it's just different fields — matter, light, forces — boiling and colliding. Where they meet, something new bubbles up. At its core, the universe is a boil.

That's also the best description we have of how a game comes together. You put a few ideas in the pot, turn up the heat, and watch what happens where they collide. Most of it evaporates. Sometimes a bubble rises that's worth keeping.

The mark

Our logo is a lowercase f with two bubbles lifting off its shoulder: the moment just before a pot boils over. It's flat, orange and works at 16 pixels, because a studio mark should be readable at a glance.

How we work

  1. 01

    One idea, pushed hard.

Every game starts with something you can say in one sentence. Six forts on a ring, all fighting at once. One mote of light that becomes a galaxy and plays its own music. Everything else serves that sentence.

  2. 02

    Ten seconds should tell you.

If a random ten-second clip of a game doesn't show why it's fun, the game isn't done. We design for moments you can see, share and understand without a tutorial.

  3. 03

    Say what made it.

We tell you plainly how our games are made. Ringfort uses AI-assisted art and music, and says so on its page. One Mote is generated entirely by its own code, with no AI art or audio. Different games, same honesty.

  4. 04

    Cook in the open.

We share devlogs here, short clips on YouTube and the messy middle on X. If you want to watch a game come to the boil, follow along.

On the stove

Two games are on their way to Steam: Ringfort, an asynchronous auto-battler that launches first, and One Mote, an incremental game drawn and scored entirely by code. More will follow.
