Async auto-battler · PC (Windows) · Steam

An asynchronous auto-battler where six ringforts fight all at once. Spend cattle on items, arrange them on your walls, chase race bonds or cross-race item styles, and take on both neighbours every round. Be the last fort standing, then climb six rings to become High King.

Trailer

How it plays

  1. 01

    Six forts. One brawl.

Every round, each fort in the ring fights at the same time — both neighbours hit you while you hit them back. Walls at zero and you’re out; the last fort standing is crowned and moves up a ring.

  2. The market: buying items and placing them on the fort’s walls
    02

You build, the battle plays itself.

Buy items at the market and place them on your 8 wall slots. Each item acts on its own cooldown: arrows, fire, poison, freezing foes, shields, repairs, boosting its allies. While you shop you can see what your neighbours are fielding, so you can build to counter them.

  3. 03

    Two roads to a build.

Race bonds: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Undead and Beasts gain a rule at 3 / 6 / 8 items of one race, with Legendary and duo bonds on top. Or cross-race styles: Weapon, Shield, Fire, Poison, Control, Command, Repair and Economy items grant bonuses at 2 / 4 / 6 of a type, whatever their race.

  4. 04

    It only gets harder.

From ring 2 on, everyone you face was crowned in another ring — and some of them are seasoned veterans. With three or two forts left, the fight turns into a showdown.

  5. Choosing one of three talents between rounds
    05

    No two runs alike.

122 items, 22 talents that grow, 12 random encounters, 7 enchantments, three reactions (Shatter, Fester, Shield break), chiefs and spoils of victory.

A note on AI

Being upfront: some of Ringfort’s art, music and text were made with the help of generative AI tools during development, then selected, edited and assembled by the developer. Item illustrations, fort and map art, UI art and achievement icons were generated with AI image tools; background music and some sound effects were generated with an AI music tool (Stable Audio); other sound effects come from Kenney’s public-domain (CC0) packs; in-game text and translations were written with AI assistance and reviewed by the developer. The game does not generate any content with AI while you play.

Questions

When does Ringfort come out, and how much will it cost?

Neither is announced yet. As soon as the Steam store page is live you’ll be able to wishlist it, and we’ll post the link on X and YouTube the same day.

Do I play against real people?

For now, the forts you face are simulated player snapshots (the names are made up), drawn at random from tens of thousands each run. Once online play opens, they’ll be replaced by lineups left by real players. Either way you never need anyone online at the same time as you.

Do I need fast reflexes?

No. You make your decisions in the market — what to buy and where to place it on your walls — and then the battle plays itself.

What does “async” mean here?

Asynchronous: your opponents are recorded lineups rather than live players, so you can play at your own pace, pause, and come back later.

Does Ringfort use AI?

Yes, for some pre-made art, music and text, which the developer curated and edited. Nothing is generated by AI while you play. The full note is on this page and will be on the Steam page.

Which languages are supported?

English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and German.
