November 2026 async auto-battler releases: where the randomness lives

Warpack, Dungeonbound, Topdeck Automat, Of Dice and Minions and Northgard Battlegrounds: dates, Steam links, and where the randomness lives in each. Ringfort out Nov 16.

Ringfort mid-battle: your fort in the middle of the ring trades hits with both neighbours

November 2026 is a crowded month for auto-battlers. Five new ones land on Steam within about three weeks, four of them in the week before and during Steam’s Auto Battler RPG Fest (November 16–23). If you’re trying to decide which to wishlist, this is the list, with each game’s date and store link as shown on its Steam page.

We’re Fervo, and the last game on this list is ours. We’ve kept it at the end.

How to read the randomness in an auto-battler

In auto-battler recommendation threads, people often ask for “less luck, more skill.” Every auto-battler has some randomness (that’s what keeps runs different), so the useful question is where the randomness sits and how much you can do about it:

  • Shop randomness: what you’re offered to buy. Rerolls, holds and big item pools soften it.
  • Matchmaking randomness: who you fight. In async games you fight a saved build from another player; how that build is picked matters.
  • Combat randomness: crits, dodges, procs during the fight itself. Fights that play out the same way every time feel the most “fair”.
  • Information: the more you can see before committing (the enemy board, item odds), the more a loss feels like your call rather than bad luck.

Read each store page and the reviews with those four in mind, and you’ll find the one that fits you quickly.

Northgard Battlegrounds: out now (Early Access, Oct 27)

Northgard Battlegrounds is a city-building auto-battler set in the Viking world of Northgard. You place buildings that shape your clan, take the Gods’ blessings, and send your warband against rival players. It’s the one you can play today, and the biggest name of the month.

Warpack: November 10

Warpack is an async-PvP auto-battler where you build a fantasy war-band and pack each unit’s backpack, then feed your champions to grow them. Every opponent is a real player’s saved army. If you love backpack-style placement, start here.

Dungeonbound: November 15

Dungeonbound is a retro first-person dungeon crawler run as an auto-battler. Send a Warrior, Mage or Rogue into the depths and watch fights play out turn by turn. It’s a single-hero, run-based take rather than a versus game.

Topdeck Automat: November 16

Topdeck Automat is a roguelike auto-battler where “your deck prints itself”: you feed a worker droid blueprints to defend a planet from alien hordes. Card games carry draw randomness by nature, so check how much control over the deck you get.

Of Dice and Minions: November 16

Of Dice and Minions has you roll five dice and chase poker hands to summon a minion army, then watch it fight down 100 floors. Dice are randomness you can see; holding and rerolling is how you manage it. Players have compared it to Balatro.

Ringfort (ours): November 16

Ringfort puts six forts in a ring. Every round you fight both neighbours at once while they fight theirs, and the ring closes in until one fort is left. Ringfort releases on November 16, 2026 and takes part in the Steam Auto Battler RPG Fest (November 16–23).

On the randomness question, here’s what Ringfort actually does, so you can judge for yourself:

  • You see your opponents while you shop. Before you commit, you can see what both neighbours are fielding this round, so you build to counter two known threats.
  • There is randomness. Shops, 12 random encounters, and the opponents you face (for now, simulated player snapshots drawn at random each run) all vary. We match those snapshots to your strength at the start of each ring.

A free demo is on Steam now (the first three rings), and there’s a launch-week discount planned. Wishlist Ringfort on Steam to get Steam’s note on launch day.
